![]() ![]() I also got another chance to retorque my lug bolts to 133 ft lbs while they were up in the air. Thankfully on those wheels it was tougher to see the insides of the wheels but these Pikes Peak wheels are pretty open so seeing them all nasty inside won't be so nice. I didn't do anything on my AL truck wheels and it didn't take long before the barrels of the wheels were in horrible shape. Now whenever I wash the Treg, I'll just take my wheel brush and the sealant should make the cleanings this upcoming winter a lot easier as most stuff should slide right off. Here is my 20" Pikes Peak Borbet, made in Germany wheel, the inside all nice and clean, ready for the sealant New RefleXion Sio2 fortified quick detail cleaner / protectant 16 fl oz spray. Shine & Shield vinyl, rubber and wrap protectant 16 fl oz trigger spray. RejeX 'Nothing Sticks but the Shine' surface sealant 16 fl oz. ![]() Pro Wash RX car wash soap with shine and rinse enhancers 16 fl oz. I used to love NuFinish way back when and then got turned on to RejeX as I value long-life over gloss and now that there is UPGP, all I have to do is wipe the stuff on and be on my merry way, no more wiping or buffing off at all. Xhaust Remover cleaner / degreaser concentrate 16 fl oz trigger spray. I dried them off and then wiped them down with Ultima Paint Guard Plus/UPGP which is a Wipe On-Walk Away sealant. Using dishwashing liquid, a brush and a sponge, I took the wheels off the Treg and cleaned both the outside and the barrels of the wheels. Note: I just use this for the wheels, as I like other stuff for the paint, but many use it for everything, Here’s a youtube vid from Corey at Car Pro:While my wheels are still new-ish, I decided I had to take them off, clean and seal them against this winters onslaught. One waffle weave towel for drying (optional) Hope you like this, there are many great products, this is just One EASY WAY to do it.īrushes - A soft Boars hair brush & a Daytona Speedmaster Time start to finish per wheel about 6 minutes. You can hit it with a weave towel after, but you really wont need to.ĭone for another month, brake dust now comes off well with just a hose blast. The water flies off with the blower, due to the super hydrophobic behavior of the sealant. Now in keeping with my "fast and easy" mission parameter, I use a cordless leaf blower to dry. Remember above: a few people have mentioned that it streaks a bit if you are in direct overhead hot sunlight.… Better to do this in the shade, or just not direct noon sunlight. The surface will slightly foam for a nanosec, and the sealant will spread to all the nooks and crannies of the wheel, not leaving any product on the tires. Now hit it again with the hose, AS HARD AS YOU CAN GET THE HOSE STREAM…THE HARDER THE BLAST THE BETTER! Some even use a pressure washer on it. NOTE: not to be used with the Z06-7 Carbon Ceramic brakes Hydro2 is from the mfr of Cquartz, CarPro. I have been told it can streak if done with bright direct overhead sunlight on the wheel, but I have not experienced that yet. Then while it’s still wet, apply the Hydro2 "water sealant" with just spraying …4-5 quick spritzes gets it…The spray is diluted 3:1, so a small bottle lasts at least a year if you use it monthly. At this point I will also clean the tire, in a conventional manner, using the Blackfire Tire Cleaner. (no, the cleaner is not staining the brake rotors in this pic) I use a bendable Daytona speedmaster brush for the barrels. Now we let it dwell for a few minutes, and then use a super soft boars brush to agitate the surface. So first we’ll wet the wheel and spray on the "Sonax Wheel Cleaner Plus". So my wheel before starting looks like this - pretty clean right? This is just to outline the procedure, imagine a dirty wheel if you want.LOL Mine come off every fall, for a total clean. Lotta bending over, which I don’t like.įor this review, I'll leave the wheel on the car, those of you with OCD will want to remove the wheel. So forget all those hours of waxing on something like REJEX or NXT, and then having to go back and buff it out of the nooks and crannies. It uses two new products one, a cleaner that attacks brake dust, even the dust you can’t see, and a next gen spray on/hose off silica ( think glass) sealant, that is formulated to spread with water. Especially with the my Forgeline or the Z06 wheels, which are quite complex. Wheels are particularly a PIA to clean/maintain, as they have so many nooks and crannies where dirt can get, and it takes time to clean them out. I don’t have time to spend all day cleaning my car, I’d rather be driving or doing another project. For those that have read my detail process, you realize my mission is to find products/procedures that are fast, complete but still very effective and durable. ![]()
